Specialist training and CPD needed for nurses prescribing for skin conditions

Better access to specialist dermatology training and continuing professional development (CPD) is needed if nurses prescribing for people with skin conditions in primary care are to have the greatest impact on services, according to the results of an online questionnaire survey.

Of the 186 nurses prescrbing for skin conditions included in the survey, nearly 80% worked in primary care and those with specialist dermatology training prescribed more items from a broader range, and used their prescribing qualification in more ways.
